Breakfast in Rochester

In Rochester, there are no shortages of places where you can eat breakfast. Like many cities, Rochester has Denny’s and IHOP, but there are a couple greasy spoons that should be visited if one decides to come visit.

One of these greasy spoons is the notable Jay’s Diner.

When one walks into Jay’s Diner, they are sent back to the 1950s. Neon lighting and mini jukeboxes are the most notable decor in the restaurant. But that’s not the only thing that makes the world go ’round at Jay’s.

There’s an immense menu that one is given. They have everything from cold plates, burgers, to classic breakfast dishes. The food is absolutely delicious and is satisfying for any time of day. Guess it’s a great thing that Jay’s is open 24 hours!

Another fantastic place to eat is The Original Steve’s Diner! There are two locations nestled in the suburbs of Rochester. One in Speedy’s Plaza in Penfield and another location in Fairport. The food at this diner is absolutely spectacular.

Back home, we had a chain of restaurants known as New Beginnings. This is exactly what this restaurant reminds me of. The prices are fairly reasonable and there is so much to choose from. Like New Beginnings, Steve’s Diner has limited hours that runs from 7am to 2:30pm. If you want some amazing food, be prepared to wait for a little while. The place is always bustling with customers!

These are two of my favorite places to go in all of Rochester. If you happen to come out this way, make sure to try these restaurants!

The Journey Begins

Welcome to my blog! I can’t wait to share my experience of New York and my life in general with you all.

I have to start off by saying that Rochester, New York is a pretty great place. Like most cities, Rochester has beautiful areas and they have some not so beautiful areas. The best part of town is probably in downtown Rochester where Java’s and Eastman School of Music are located. Now, this is probably the most hipster area, but it’s also one of the prettier places in the city.

Eastman School of Music was founded by the late George Eastman. It is probably one of the most prestigious music schools in America.

Neighboring the school is probably one of my favorite locations in the city besides Dogtown on Monroe Avenue, home of the junkyard plate. My favorite location in all of Rochester is Java’s.

Java’s is a phenomenal coffee shop. They have delicious smoothies, baked goods made from scratch, and they have better coffee than McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts combined.

I spend probably three or four nights a week at this coffee shop playing cards with my fiance and our friends. It is a great place to hang out, but it is always bustling with business. When I visited Rochester for the first time in 2018, Java’s was the place I fell in love with. The building itself is gorgeous and the interior is unique.

If you ever come to Rochester, Java’s is definitely one place that you need to visit.
